Coming to life. I'm using Acrylic for this one, which takes a lot of layers to build up the color. Showing you sepia tone for shadows. Getting there...

Took a few days off for travel. This is the latest update. I had decided to use a canvas panel for strength. The effects came out very nice after building it up. I've listed it on Ebay. The size is 11x14

Yesterday I started this piece and it really took a while to get the boats going. With acrylic you can keep building up the layers as it dries in minutes. Oil takes much longer to dry and I found myself trying to get the detail on the boats and it just wasn't happening. (This is one of those patience things I'm not very good at! ) I don't like to waste time and it was hard to let it "sit" . Today I hope to make it "pop". Hopefully you will see that on tomorrows post.

So, as each and every day this month on the east coast is VERY warm..... I thought I would paint this shot from Cape May New Jersey. It looks nice and cool on the beach with the boats..... a nice place to relax.

These cuties are finished. I had been given these. They were so beautiful and I knew when I dried them they would make a great painting. I was correct. I'm thinking of making a few more of these in a series. Next I'm going to be auctioning some of these small works on Ebay in the next few days. Stay tuned........Thanks for looking! Day one. I couldn't spend all day on this just a few hours, but I got the acrylic down then oil on some of it.

So everything is in place with this blog and my art on "dailypaintings.com". Still working on my web site. This blog is the placeholder under koast.com until I can upload it.
Today I will be starting a small canvas. My theme is a rose. I'm starting it in acrylic with oil in subsequent layers. We'll see how it goes. Next I want to paint a larger piece: an outdoor cafe scene . I have some spots in mind to go snap some shots. Ill show my progress here.

So, I spent a complete day working the nuances of blog sites, web sites, uploads and all the sticky stuff in between. I'm enjoying learning all of the "technical' jargon. Yesterday I set up "Daily Paint works" It a nice site for artists to sell and I like the simplicity of it. Hopefully someday I can be popular like Karin Jurick and Abbey Ryan. Each one has been very helpful to me when I've reach out with questions. By the way, Karens friend Brett makes this great small works easel that slips on a easel. I love mine and I suggest it for anyone who works 6x6. It makes it very sturdy and you can rest your arm while painting. Check it out on her website. Ok, coffee time is over. Beautiful sunrise here on the East Coast....

Well, this is my uploaded site. Im not finished yet but this will be a start. I'm currently trying to get Koast.com to redirect to this blog. Hopefully Network Solutions will cooperate with me. I will be adding more features as I learn what I 'm doing. (I apologize for any ugly design work on this site. I'm a newbie.) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I will also be looking to start selling my work on Daily Paintworks and maybe Ebay once I have set up an account. Hopefully later today.

Its been over 9 years since I've published anything on my ancient website : Koast.com . I've been doing a great deal of painting recently and will be loading those up to this blog in the next day or so. I'm so looking forward to communicating with other art lovers and looking to have fun in the process!
